  • FADV strives to ensure that all survivors of domestic violence who turn to us find the support they need to take the next steps to break free from abuse.
  • FADV provides a safe environment where survivors can share their experiences regardless of where they are in their healing process. By connecting survivors with supportive resources while facilitating several options for survivors to achieve much-needed healing and independence. Assertive supportive advocacy and education are some of the ways FADV helps survivors to strengthen their emotional capacities in order to deal with the many complex issues they will face in order to recover from the trauma of violence and financial abuse.

Sis, Let's Have A Real Discussion

The Problem

“African American women are at disproportionate risk for domestic

violence, review of the literature suggests that traditional law enforcement, criminal justice, and advocacy efforts may be ineffective with this population due to (a) Black female victims'

experiences of systemic racism and oppression, which prevents disclosure of abuse and access to resources, and (b) utilization of culture-blind approaches in the development and

administration of interventions.”
